Gem and Clay was hired to bring soul to this Connecticut family’s holiday home, nestled in the woods of Northeast Ohio where the clients are from and where their extended family still live. This custom modern cabin had beautiful bones, but needed textiles, furniture, decor and accents to warm the space up and reflect the family’s lifestyle. The space had to feel cozy and inviting, like coming home, but modern and sophisticated enough to feel like a getaway from busy city life.

We designed custom window treatments for all of the main rooms, bringing in a combination of drapery, woven wood shades and roller shades where appropriate, including the kids and guest rooms. We incorporated a large, custom rug in the primary suite, a custom plaid stair runner, and layered in cabin & folk-inspired textiles, wallpaper, art and decor in all rooms throughout the home. We sourced and selected an assortment of furnishings throughout the main floor and the upstairs, each curated to match the specific design concepts created in the beginning of the project, inspired by the modern mountain homes that the family loved to vacation in. The result is a modern and inviting getaway to house some of this young family’s most precious memories for years to come.
