Heritage Heights Remodel

Located in the historic Fairlawn Heights neighborhood of Akron, Ohio, this project was a full gut renovation with a thoughtfully integrated second-story addition, reimagining a beloved family home for a new generation. Owned by the granddaughter of the original homeowners, the residence was carefully re-interpreted to suit the needs of a young family while honoring the home’s mid-century roots and architectural character. Gem and Clay was engaged prior to the start of architecture and construction to develop the full interior design concept and plan, collaborating closely with Peninsula Architects and Monticello Construction Group on all aspects of the interiors. Our team remained involved throughout the life of the project, producing detailed technical design documents and overseeing the execution of the design elements to ensure a cohesive result. In addition to the interior design, Gem and Clay completed the full furnishings and styling, with standout design moments including a custom banquette and table in the dinette, bespoke tile patterns throughout the home, and beautifully crafted custom kitchen cabinetry.
