GATHERING GROUND

Designed as the final chapter of a larger home transformation, this Ohio basement was reimagined as a warm, inviting extension of the family’s holiday home. With family gatherings at the heart of the project - and the homeowners’ mother living just next door - the lower level was designed to comfortably bring generations together. We transformed the previously unfinished space into a fully realized living level, adding a fireplace, kitchen and dining area, relaxed living space, fitness room, and dedicated playroom for the children. Layered materials, comfortable furnishings, and thoughtful details give the basement the same considered character as the upper floors while creating a space that feels distinctly suited to casual family time, entertaining, and long holiday stays.
